LEGO Brick Scholars - STEAM Program

The LEGO Brick Scholars Program at OLPH began the week of January 9th as part of our school STREAM (Science, Technology, Religion, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) program.  The Brick Scholar Program provides residencies and workshops for schools and focuses on curriculum that provides engaging, creative and fun activities that are based on the idea that "as children build knowledge with their hands, they are building knowledge with their mind.   Brick Scholars' programs are designed using Best Practices teaching and learning methods.  Each class uses a standards based curriculum and integrates research-based and brain-based educational theory, including LEGO Education pedagogy and Constructionism theory.

Mrs. Megan Oteri, CEO and Founder Brick Scholars,  and Mr. Joe Meno, LEGO BrickJournal Magazine/Brick Scholar Robotics Facilitator spent the week with students in grades Pre-K through 8th building, creating, writing, exploring, and so much more.  The Middle School students participated in a Robotics program with Mr. Meno while grades PK - 5th used Story Visualizer to create comic book stories about their LEGO creations.  The students LOVED this program and were so excited to show off their Brick Scholar creations!

This program was sponsored by one of our OLPH families and was a wonderful opportunity for all of our students.  We are all thankful for this generous gift!  Below are a few highlights from the week.
