Veterans Day 2017

Veterans Day

On November 10th OLPH students hosted our annual OLPH Veterans Day Breakfast to show our appreciation to Veterans and their families.  We began our day at the flag pole where  Nash Central High School ROTC joined us for a special flag raising and salute.  Thank you to Mr. Leo Nieves, Amelia (4th) for making this possible.  It was a memorable and powerful tribute!  After raising the flag, our students joined our visiting veterans in saying The Pledge of Allegiance and in singing a verse of "God Bless America."

After prayers, all veterans and their families were treated to a delicious breakfast.  Students in grades 5th through 8th carried trays for our guests, filled coffee and juice cups and did whatever they could to show our appreciation for the sacrifices the veterans have made.  While guests finished their meal, students in grades PK through 4th entertained them by performing patriotic songs.  The breakfast performance ended with a special tribute song titled "Thank You Soldiers" performed by the entire school.  The Veterans Day Breakfast has become a an important part of our school tradition and a way for our students to demonstrate their deep support and appreciation to our military families.
