February 15, 2012

Dear Parents,

Thanks to Alexes Parker and the Read-A-Thon Committee for sponsoring this week of activities centering on the importance of reading. This week supports the work of both teachers and parents who recognize how vital reading is to a student’s entire education. It is also consistent with the priorities of the common core standards which will impact the curriculum at both public and private schools. Schools within the Catholic Diocese of Raleigh will be receiving professional development training in how to integrate the common core into their lessons.

The annual Book Fair is once again a great success. The H. S. A., led by Maria Votava, has once again supplied us with an event that is both fun and helpful in introducing us to new literature. If you haven’t yet had an opportunity to visit the Fair, please do so. The last day that the books will be on display is February 17.

Please note that next Monday, February 20 is Presidents’ Day and a day off from school. Also, please save the date for the upcoming St. Patrick’s Day Celebration on March 17. This is a fun evening of community and a celebration of the school.

Best wishes,

Mrs.Urbanski
