HSA News 01/09/12
Dear Parents,
Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a great Christmas vacation and are settling back into the school routine. Please make sure the office has your correct phone numbers for Alert Now just in case we get some snow and school is canceled.
As you know, Mrs. Kathleen Colbert is moving back to Buffalo, New York to be closer to her daughters and grand-daughters and where she will definitely get snow. Last Friday was her last day and it was filled with tears and goodbyes. I will miss hearing, "Hello, Dahling", every time I call the office. Miss Kathleen helped me with many HSA events over the past few years and kept up with the many recycling programs (even though I know I drove her crazy at times). Plus, she was always a good sport when I teased her. I know the students will miss her very much and her endless supply of snacks, hugs, and band aids. Good luck and safe travels, Miss Kathleen. You will be missed very much.
REMINDERS
January Pizza Lunch--Please remember to bring in your pizza lunch orders by this Wednesday (01/11). This Friday is the first pizza lunch of 2012, don't miss it!
The next Knight of Columbus Breakfast is January 22 from 8:30-10:30. Great breakfast for a great deal. Students get a point for their class for attending plus an extra point if they are in uniform. The class with the most points wins an ice cream party at the end of the year!
The Read-A-Thon will take place February 6-13. The Scholastic Book Fair will take place from February 10-17. We will have the Family Reading Night on February 15. I am looking for someone to help me plan and work the Book Fair. Please let me know if you can help. The Book Fair will be open during lunch, after school, and after mass on the weekend. If you would like to buy some books but can't make it during those times, please contact me. I will need volunteers to help during Pizza Lunch on February 10 as we kick off the Book Fair. I can't work the Pizza Lunch and Book Fair at the same time, so I will need some assistance. The Book Fair dates and information can be found at http://bookfairs.scholastic.com/homepage/olphrm.
Daddy/Daughter Dance- Scheduled for February 17 at 6:00 PM in the cafeteria. There will be dancing, food, and lots of fun. More information will be forthcoming.
Hey Moms, looking for ideas and a few willing people to help plan something for the Mothers and Sons. I will help you get something together but I need someone to take the lead on this.
Great American Can Round Up
Please bring in only aluminum beverage cans! I love the enthusiasm but the contest is only for aluminum beverage cans, not aluminum in general. I do not want to risk getting kicked out of the contest for fraud. We have recycled 440 lbs of aluminum beverage cans so far. Great job! We will be collecting aluminum beverage cans until April. You can leave your aluminum beverage cans by the bin outside of the Middle School building. (Please just beverage cans...if the teachers hear me talking to myself as I go through the bags again...they will have me committed).
